High-end, traditional-style wines tend to have simplistic layouts with gold foil accents to emphasize their premium nature. I decided I was going to base my concept off something mystical or mythological and landed on the Tarot deck and chose the card The Tower. The card symbolizes a sudden and destructive force for change and revision.
I thought about how to give the design a verticality, like the card itself, and opted for a taller label with most of the design centered down the middle. I drew the image of the tower illuminated with a flash of lightning that would be printed in gold foil to emphasize its premium quality, which would shine on the shelves.
