The objective of this project was to feature a typeface designer in a stylized publication. I chose Tré Seals, the founder of Vocal Type Co., for his focus on activism and unique approach to type design as a tool of social change. The text of this article (excluding the title) is from Freelance Collective.
The typefaces used are James (VTC), Harriet (VTC), and Mokoko (Adobe Fonts). The Vocal Type font that is entirely made up of symbols, Harriet, is based on the real quilted codes used to communicate in secret throughout the Underground Railroad.
